PFAS , also known as “forever chemicals,” are human-made chemicals found in everything from carpets, to fast food wrappers, to firefighting foams on military bases — like Grissom Air Reserve Base near Kokomo.

PHOTOS: A shelter-in-place order in Pierce County was lifted Monday morning as smoke from a Tacoma boat fire decreased.
Crews were still battling a fire on the Kodiak Enterprise boat in the Tideflats Port Facility Monday morning. The boat began burning early Saturday morning. According to Trident Seafoods, a security guard reported smoke on the vessel around 3 a.

Here in Washington, fire season typically begins in May and early signs show it could be crawling up on us.
"This was a good indication that we're approaching fire season," said Yakima Deputy Fire Chief D.J. Goldsmith.
He told us that after responding to this fire behind the arboretum near the greenway were multiple spot fires which fire officials say indicates just how dry it is right now.

11 people have been hospitalized amid a 3-alarm apartment fire in Detroit. The incident happened at a 5-story apartment building on La Salle Blvd. Fire crews have been battling this fire since at least 3:30 a.m. The fire was still active at 6:25 a.m. Friday and at around 7 a.m., crews were finally able to get the flames under control.

VIDEO: Firefighters in Fire Station 5 helped rescue the California Highway Patrol officer hit by an active shooter Thursday afternoon in Roseville.
The shooting happened outside the front doors of Station 5.
Firefighters heard the shots and put on their tactical gear to find the officer and bring that officer back into the station to start treating them.
