Fire season is here and we've already had multiple fires in the area. Those fires are keeping our firefighters from their families as they are working long hours to keep us safe. Ben Shearer from the Pasco Fire Department says it's not only stressful on them physically, but also mentally. According to the Shearer, the PFD is a big family and as a family member, they want to support each other.

When Tri-Cities fire crews were faced with thousands of acres of burning grass earlier this month they had a new tool. And it came from close to home. Local fire crews called for aerial help from the federal government to battle a 6,000-acre wildland fire. The planes were loaded with fire retardant made in Pasco.

VIDEO: The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) and Seattle City Light are rolling out a new Energy Response Unit to address electrical fires in substations and underground faults.
The unit includes 44 firefighters specifically trained to fight energy-related fires, a new rig with 11,000 pounds of carbon dioxide and 600 feet of hose line.

Local and state firefighters are working to contain the Roza Creek Fire burning in the Yakima River Canyon between Yakima and Ellensburg. At last check the fire was more than 600 acres and growing. A type 3 firefighting team was expected to arrive Thursday taking over command of the fire.
Level 1 evacuation notices were issued Wednesday by the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office for those living on Roza View Drive and Burbank Creek Road, meaning residents need to stay alert and prepare to leave if the fire grows close to homes.

St. Louis City firefighters battled a huge fire overnight at an old north city Catholic Church that was turned into an indoor skate park. The fire was so intense that the embers spread to a building two blocks away.
What's left of the old St. Liborius Church is ‘Sk8 Liborius,’ on the Hogan and North Market streets, until the huge fire gutted the building overnight.
