Utah firefighters use meme humor to encourage clearing hydrants

Firefighters are asking for help from the community with clearing fire hydrants of snow in case of an emergency. The Kaysville City Fire Department has been spreading the word for months with humorous posts, hoping to bring more attention to the message. Cameron McKinnon, public information officer for the Kaysville Fire Department, said it’s really helpful if people can take the extra second to clear space around the fire hydrants in their neighborhoods (preferably 3 feet around the hydrant) as they do with sidewalks and driveways.

Tax bill ‘clerical error’ leaves West Richland fire district $500,000 in the red

The fire district that covers West Richland is scrambling to deal with a $500,000 shortfall after the county failed to collect the tax approved by voters last fall. Benton Fire District 4 voters agreed to the levy lift lid in August but it was left off property tax bills. Chief Paul Carlyle said the fire district submitted the needed paperwork to the county and included the extra money in its 2023 budget, which was required to be completed in November 2022.

5 Pets Killed in Yakima House Fire

Firefighters in west valley were busy Wednesday night with a house fire that took the lives of five pets. Fire officials from West Valley Fire Rescue were called to the home off of 52nd Avenue at about 9:00 pm. When they arrived they found the home full of smoke but no flames. They say the fire "burned itself" out because of a lack of oxygen.

Seattle Fire Department on pace to respond to more than 1,000 encampment fires in 2023

21 Displaced After Flames Tear Through Massachusetts Home

VIDEO: Firefighters battled a large blaze in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood that left 12 adults and nine children unable to return home Tuesday afternoon.
