3 found dead inside burned Kitsap County house; investigated as homicide

Three people were found dead in a home that caught fire late Friday night near Seabeck. The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office has identified two of the bodies as male and one of them as female. The identities and ages of the victims are unknown. Investigators are treating the case as a homicide. "We’re handling it as a homicide investigation," said Scott Wilson, Kitsap County Sheriff's deputy.

Olympia Fire Department uses old-timey video to announce Twitter account

The Olympia Fire Department retired its carrier pigeons this year, and is using a new kind of bird to send out information: Twitter. The city announced the change Friday morning with a fun, old-timey video. It features Deputy Chief Greg Wright pulling up to the station in an antique firetruck, then attempting to send out messages using a typewriter and carrier pigeon.

Cowlitz Fire District 5: Officials eye fire station remodel, backed by $1 million from methanol project

Northwest Innovation Works would make a $1 million, one-time grant to upgrade Kalama-area fire facilities under an agreement reached this month with Cowlitz Fire District 5. The agreement hinges on the Northwest Innovation getting all permits to build the $1.8 billion project. The company would also pay a still-to-be determined amount for firefighter training.

Longtime Cle Elum firefighter resigns amid controversy

A 22-year veteran of the Cle Elum Volunteer Fire Department resigned Tuesday night, telling the Cle Elum City Council that he faced harassment and retaliation after filing a complaint against the department’s former chief last year. Rick Graham, who had been Second Assistant Chief of the department and the emergency medical services lead, told the council his complaint came after an incident involving Chief David Campbell at an aid call last September.
