Bakersfield (CA) Fire Truck Gets into Accident with Car

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A Bakersfield Fire truck got into a fender-bender with a car on the Calloway Bridge over the Westside Parkway Tuesday just after 8 a.m. The truck from Station 15 on Buena Vista Road was reportedly on its way to a call when a white four-door sedan clipped the front of the truck just past the on ramp to the eastbound parkway.

No one was hurt when a Bakersfield (CA) fire apparatus got into a motor vehicle accident with a car Tuesday.

Fire officials said this is an example of giving emergency vehicles plenty of room and limiting distractions while behind the wheel, according to the local ABC affiliate.

Petersburg (VA) Fire Truck Idled for Weeks Over $100 Repair

PETERSBURG, Va. -- Viewers in Petersburg reached out to the CBS 6 Problem Solvers about a fire engine that has been out of service for nearly two weeks. The issue keeping the truck garaged would cost less than one hundred dollars to fix. The old tire has to be taken off and the new tire mounted.

WTVR reported on the situation in Petersburg, Virginia, in which a fire apparatus was apparently out of service for almost two weeks over a repair that should cost less that $100 to fix.

An old tire has to be taken off and the new tire mounted, according to WTVR. The station has borrowed a fire engine from Fort Lee.

The city has recently been in the spotlight over budget issues related to public safety.

Cobb County (GA) Fire Truck Hit by Bullet

Officials say a bullet hit a Cobb County fire truck as it was returning to a fire station in Marietta on Tuesday.

No one was injured when a bullet struck a Cobb County (GA) fire truck that was returning to a station in Marietta, according to reports.

Firefighters in the truck reportedly knew that something happened, but were not aware that the truck was hit by a bullet until they returned to the fire station.

Spokane seeks help from the State Legislature to fight foreclosed ‘zombie properties’

On Monday morning, one of Spokane’s several hundred zombie properties caught fire. The one-story home on West Cleveland Avenue should have been empty. It was in foreclosure for nearly two years after the mortgage-holder died, and a court ordered its sale last October to pay its creditor. But that didn’t keep the squatters out, and when those occupants tried to refill a kerosene stove, a fire ignited.
