VIDEO: Flames and smoke took over the basement of a house in Washington County on April 24, but from the outside, you'd never know. A special fire suppression tool saved the home.
"I got visible flames in the basement," a first responder said. "Looks like it’s filled with smoke." On the morning of April 24, the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a house fire in Addison.

More than 80 people from the National Guard trained to be wildland firefighters at Joint Base Lewis-McChord on Saturday.
Historically, fire season is declared around June and runs through October. The last couple of years, however, have skewed the average. Last year, the Pacific Northwest had a late summer which pushed the season well into fall.

Firefighters from Spokane Valley and Spokane rescued three pets after they extinguished a fire in a duplex in Spokane Valley on Saturday night.
Crews responded to the reported fire at a duplex at about 11:05 p.m. at 6702 E. Third Ave., near the corner of South Thierman Street. The fire was extinguished within about 20 minutes of dispatch, the Spokane Valley Fire Department said in a news release.

The Everett Fire Department has recommended some fire prevention tips after extinguishing a house fire on Friday night.
Just after 9 p.m., firefighters were called to the 1900 block of Wetmore Avenue for a house fire. Firefighters found a row of tall evergreen shrubs on fire with 20 to 30 feet of flames, said the EFD.

A piece of Woodward’s history burned to the ground Thursday morning.
The old States Hotel/Collins Clinic on 10th and Main was destroyed by the fire that broke out at 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, according to people working in the area at the time and called 9-1-1.
There was a fire on the second floor of the same building late Wednesday night that firefighters put out and were on the scene for a while afterwards.
