Rekindled Old Lady Creek Fire burns 3,000 acres in Klickitat County

A rekindled fire on private Washington land overtook a structure Monday and caused dozens of homes to be evacuated. The fire was first reported around 2 p.m. near 407 Old Hwy 8 in Klickitat County. Gender bias in Vancouver Fire Department under investigation

The city of Vancouver hired an outside investigator earlier this year to look into issues of gender-based discrimination within the Vancouver Fire Department. That inquiry is ongoing now. Emails obtained by The Columbian raise questions about how female firefighters are treated in Vancouver. In April, a firefighter was using the women’s restroom at Station 10 when her male boss walked in on her.

Structure fire in Toppenish results in the deaths of five dogs

Firefighters are still investigating how a structure caught on fire and produced devastating results. It happened on the 1900 block of Larue Road in Toppenish. The structure that caught fire was an out building. The fire spread to trees and a pickup truck that sustained damage, but some of the most valuable possessions in the out building were five dogs, four of which were puppies.
