Follow Up: What to know about the foam used to fight Seattle’s Lake Union fire

Firefighting foam floated on Lake Union on Wednesday morning after the Seattle Fire Department extinguished a fire at a Seattle Boat Company storage facility. But while the fire’s effects on the lake aren’t fully known, officials say the foam itself is environmentally safe and will dissolve in the water on its own.

Person found dead after crews put out fire at Mill Creek garage

An investigation is underway after a person was found dead inside a garage after South County Fire units put out a housefire on Wednesday. Crews responded to a house fire in the 15300 block of 25th Drive SE in Mill Creek just before 11:30 a.m. When they arrived, they saw smoke and flames coming from the garage of a two-story house.

Spokane Valley firefighters battle house fire in a Northwood neighborhood

Firefighters are battling a house fire in the Spokane Valley's Northwood neighborhood. According to firefighters with the Spokane Valley Fire District 9 (SVFD9), a house located north of Millwood caught fire early Wednesday morning. Firefighters said nobody was injured and they are trying to extinguish the fire.

More than $23 million in federal grants will pay for Washington wildfire mitigation projects

Wildfire mitigation and prevention projects in Washington are set to get $23.4 million in federal money, thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act. The money, distributed through Community Wildfire Defense Grants (CWDG), will help pay for 13 state, local and tribal efforts to deal with and anticipate the Washington’s increasingly active wildfire seasons.

Firefighters rescue 2 of 3 people critically hurt in Everett house fire

Two people were rescued from a burning home in Everett that left three people critically injured. A passerby called 911 about a house fire in the 3400 block of Broadway at 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday. Firefighters arrived and went into the home and rescued two people, including one person who was in a wheelchair.
