Firefighters near Coles Corner made progress containing a 7.5-acre brush fire along U.S. Highway 2 on Wednesday. Officials said the fire that sparked early Wednesday morning posed no danger to homes. Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Mike Payne said his crews have been busy in the Coles Corner area with multiple wildfires in the only past two weeks.

A fire in TImm Ranch in Okanogan County has spread to 500 acres. Emergency Management crews said the fire started after lightning sparked a brush fire in Okanogan County Wednesday afternoon. Officials said the 500 acre fire is burning in the Colville Reservation near Timm Ranch and Thunder Basin. Crews said the fire is burning in rugged land and there are no structures threatened.
