Victim in fatal Orchards RV fire identified

Officials have identified the person who died in an Orchards area motor home fire Sunday as a 45-year-old man. Lonnie Hagan died of smoke inhalation, ruled an accident, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office. The agency did not have his city of residence. Paul Conway Fire Welcomes Dave Liske, Keith Miles

Paul Conway Fire recently announced the arrival of two new team members: Dave Liske and Kieth Miles.

Dave Liske

Dave will serve as Sales Representative for Northwest Illinois and Eastern Iowa. His passion for the fire industry began at an early age, as a Firefighter Explorer throughout high school. He has been in the fire service since 1985 and is currently a captain at the Rock Island Arsenal (IL) Fire Department. Prior to this, he was a member of the McCausland (IA) Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years.

Dave’s repertoire includes: MABAS 43 Hazmat Team Leader, Member of the Illinois Task Force 1, Fire Officer IV, Hazmat Technician and Technical Rescue Technician. He also served as a Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps.

“We are thrilled to have an individual with so much experience like Dave on our team and look forward to having him develop relationships with individuals and departments in his respective territories,” said Sales Director, Lee Kasten.

Keith Miles

Keith Miles will serve as Sales Representative for Western Illinois and Eastern Missouri.

Firefighting and pre-hospital medicine always fascinated Keith and he is happy that he was able to realize his dream. Keith is a 26-year veteran of and captain with the Granite City (IL) Fire Department.

Keith was also a paramedic for 14 years and has certifications in Hazmat, OSHA 30, is confined space trained and has completed NFIRS officer training.

“As we continue to expand into new territories, we are happy to have Keith on board. With his commitment to the fire service industry, we know that he will ensure that every individual and department receives the highest level of customer service,” said Sales Director, Lee Kasten.

Digging in: Entiat Hotshots prepare for wildfire season

On a cool Tuesday morning in late May, 20 members of the Entiat Hotshots wielded 25-pound chainsaws, tossed cut shrubs and small trees yards out of the way and chopped at the earth with Pulaskis. In six hours, the men and women cleared a 10-foot-wide, half-mile-long path down a steep hillside on Tyee Mountain.

Body found outside burning home in Elma; homicide suspected

Deputies responding to a report of gunshots and a house fire in Elma found a body outside the burning home, and now sheriff's officials say they believe it was a homicide. Another body may be inside the home, officials said. Meanwhile, a neighbor says it sounded like a gun battle erupted at the house before the fire.
