After losing his left leg,Texas firefighter gets chance on NBC’s ‘American Ninja Warrior’

Gary Weiland vowed that his leg amputation wouldn’t be his end. The Denton firefighter went in for partial knee replacement surgery in 2018, where complications during the operation resulted in the decision to amputate his left leg to save his body. And just like that, Weiland’s entire life changed. “I made the decision pretty early on that this wasn’t going to beat me,” Weiland said.

EMS in one Minnesota county to carry Suboxone for treating opioid withdrawal on ambulances

Hennepin EMS will now carry Suboxone, a drug effective in treating opioid withdrawal symptoms, in its ambulances. Dr. Nicholas Simpson, an emergency and Hennepin EMS physician, highlighted this step as significant for patients experiencing opioid withdrawal after they are administered naloxone, the antidote that reverses opioid overdoses.

VIDEOS: Chase of armed carjacking suspect ends in fiery crash on I-5 in Tacoma

PHOTOS: All northbound and southbound lanes of I-5 were blocked just south of the 56th Street exit in Tacoma Monday afternoon after a chase involving an armed carjacking suspect ended in a fiery crash. South Satus fire reaches over 1,000 acres east of Mabton

A brush fire that broke out Monday afternoon near Mabton is now estimated at over 1,000 acres. The fire is now called the South Satus fire. It is located 10 miles south of Toppenish on Highway 22. According to Yakima County Fire District 5, multiple crews and fire personnel are on the scene battling the blaze.

$18,000 grant will help Spokane Valley Fire Department improve community safety

An $18,000 grant from State Farm was awarded to Spokane Valley Fire Department to help fund their Enhanced Safety Visit Program. The goals of the program are to: Reduce the rate of fire fatalities; Increase the number of working smoke and CO alarms installed in at-risk homes; Improve the fire safety of residents and firefighters; Reduce the rate of falls in our older adult and disabled populations.
