A municipal court judge ordered a Margate firefighter to surrender his public employment following his conviction last month for shoplifting $7.98 in items, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced Friday. The prosecutor's office handled the conviction of Ashton Funk, 34, and was also pushing for the forfeiture of his job as a firefighter and as a lifeguard, also for the city of Margate.

Oneonta (NY) Fire Rescue Department, 100-foot midmount platform quint. 

As fire and rescue call volumes rise, North Olympic Peninsula districts work to recruit and train new volunteers. Thirty new volunteers began training in Clallam County last week for three agencies: Clallam County Fire Districts 2 and 3 and the Port Angeles Fire Department. This is the largest recruit class that has ever been jointly taught among the three agencies, said District 3 Assistant Chief Dan Orr in a news release.
