Firefighters battle blaze at old Seattle Times building

Firefighters had to hack their way through welded-shut doorways to battle a blaze Thursday morning at the old Seattle Times building, fire officials said. Crews were dispatched to the scene, at John Street and Fairview Avenue, at about 6:50 a.m. after receiving reports of black smoke coming from the abandoned building.

Eastside firefighters help deliver baby at fire station

A group of Eastside firefighters turned their station into a delivery room Wednesday afternoon. Ryan Kober was trying to drive his wife, Jessica, to the hospital, when they got held up by a stop light. Kober said she started feeling strong labor pains and he knew they weren't going to make it in time.

Kent Regional Fire Authority's program seeks to provide right care at the right time

A Kent Regional Fire Authority's program will start providing a new type of non-emergency medical assistance that will increase the level of care in our community. The Fire Department Community Assistance, Referral, and Education Services division, known as FDCARES, was developed several years ago to provide better nonemergency medical assistance to the community and connect residents with the healthcare and social services they need.
