Rutter Canyon Fire at 150 acres; Level II evacuations in place

Firefighters battling the Rutter Canyon Fire say the fire is 0 percent contained, but it is no longer spreading. Department of Natural Resources spokesman Guy Giffords said firefighters have dug trails around the main fire and two nearby spot fires. The fire is estimated to be roughly 150 acres, burning mostly state and county park land, but also some private property.

2 suspicious fires overnight in Spokane Valley; Investigators asking residents to check their property

The Spokane Valley Fire Department is asking all residents within the area from Valleyway Avenue to Broadway Avenue and from Vista Road to Sargent Road to check their property and report any extinguished fires that may have been set early Wednesday morning. Firefighters were busy fighting two suspicious fires early Wednesday morning started in the area, and believe other fires may have been set and then put out before developing into a bigger fire.

Arson suspected as sailboat catches fire on dry land in Seattle

A fire aboard a sailboat on dry land has sparked an arson investigation in Seattle, police said. Officers and firefighters responded to the scene, in the 3100 block of Fairview Ave East, at about 12:20 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a report of a suspicious fire. Arriving there, they found flames shooting from a sailboat on a trailer.

Illinois fire truck involved in rollover while responding to fire

PHOTOS - The Zeigler Fire Department says a fire truck was involved in a rollover crash on Tuesday morning, Aug. 11 while responding to a fire. They say all six firefighters on board were taken to an area hospital. According to the fire department, the truck captain was pinned until crews could arrive to remove her.

EMS Organizations Enter Collaborative Agreement to Honor Fallen EMS Providers

The National EMS Memorial Service, the National EMS Memorial Foundation and the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride, all charitable 501 c3 organizations, have agreed to collaborate on a strategic plan to honor EMS providers who gave their lives in the line of duty. Over the years, distinct efforts have been undertaken to honor these fallen heroes and their families.
