South County Fire Chief Doug Dahl retires; Thad Hovis named Interim Chief

South County Fire Chief Doug Dahl retired Tuesday, March 31 after nearly 34 years in the fire service. Dahl spent all but the early years of his fire service career in south Snohomish County. In 1986, after graduating from Mountlake Terrace High School, Dahl signed on as a firefighter at Pierce County Fire District 10.

COVID-19 testing site for first responders to open in Covington this week

A COVID-19 testing site for first responders is set to open in Covington this week, according to city officials. The site will be housed at the former Covington Elementary School site and will be used for emergency operations, along with providing virus testing. “We are so thankful for our selfless first responders and want to ensure they can stay safe as they continue to serve our greater community,” said Covington Mayor Jeff Wagner.

Coronavirus taking toll on Seattle area's first responders

VIDEO: COVID-19 has hit Seattle’s fire and police departments. As of Monday, there have been at least a dozen COVID-19 cases among Seattle's police and fire departments. Dozens of the city's first responders have been exposed to the deadly virus, a spokesperson for the Seattle mayor's office said. According to the spokesperson, 200 of Seattle first responders have been exposed to COVID-19, making it a challenging time and fluid situation for city leaders like Fire Chief Harold Scoggins.

Battle Ground blaze calls out 5 trucks, 3 water tankers

PHOTO: Five fire trucks and three water tankers were called out to a fire in Battle Ground, Washington Monday evening. Crews got the call for help around 7 p.m. and arrived at NE 239th Street to find the building fully engulfed in flames. The structure on fire was an 18,000-square-foot outbuilding/shop, according to Clark County Fire and Rescue.
