Firefighter Daniel Lyon is about halfway through his initial treatment for the severe burns he sustained in the Twisp River Fire, according to his father, Dan Lyon.
Based on physicians’ projections for the healing process from this type of injury, Daniel could be released from Harborview Medical Center in about six weeks.

An old civil defense air raid siren at the La Conner Fire Department will be put to use again as a way summon volunteer firefighters should their emergency pagers not work.
The siren, which hasn’t been used full time for several years, will be put back into round-the-clock operation today, said Fire Chief Dan Taylor.

Toutle fire commissioners on Wednesday delayed taking action on signing a contract to reinstate Castle Rock ambulance service. At their regular monthly meeting, commissioners also heard from a few Toutle residents who suggested that the districts eventually merge.
Earlier this week, Castle Rock fire district commissioners agreed to a contract under which Castle Rock would provide ambulance service to Toutle for $250 per call.
