Toutle fire district delays action on ambulance plan

Toutle fire commissioners on Wednesday delayed taking action on signing a contract to reinstate Castle Rock ambulance service. At their regular monthly meeting, commissioners also heard from a few Toutle residents who suggested that the districts eventually merge. Earlier this week, Castle Rock fire district commissioners agreed to a contract under which Castle Rock would provide ambulance service to Toutle for $250 per call.

Feds investigating report that armed Idaho landowner confronted crews battling wildfire

Federal authorities are investigating an anonymous report that an armed landowner confronted firefighters battling an Idaho wildfire and accused them of not properly protecting a private elk-hunting ranch. The report recently posted on the National Interagency Fire Center's website said two hotshot crews refused an order to fight the fire because of safety concerns.
