The Spokane County Fire Department is investigating a house fire that happened on North Highwood Court near Mead High School early Tuesday morning. Spokane Co. Fire officials said the home originally caught fire on Monday afternoon. Three people and a dog were able to get out safely officials told KREM 2 News.

Talks of forming a regional fire authority in Marysville have cooled off. The city and the fire district met for months to talk about creating a fire authority, a new government body that would levy taxes and provide fire protection and emergency medical services in the city and surrounding area.
