Clallam Co. Fire District No. 4 memorializes deceased volunteers in Joyce bell-ringing ceremony

Clallam County Fire District No. 4 remembered more than 140 deceased volunteers in a memorial bell-ringing ceremony in Joyce. Bagpipers Thomas McCurdy and Nathan Carroll, both of Port Angeles, opened Saturday's ceremony with traditional bagpipe music. After Fire Chief Alex Baker read each volunteer name, the bell tolled once.

Rhode Island firefighters union hires security firm to guard mayor's house after threats

The Providence firefighters union has hired a private security firm to protect Mayor Jorge Elorza's house after threatening social media posts against him became the subject of a police investigation. Paul Doughty, president of Local 799 of the International Association of Firefighters, AFL-CIO, said Tuesday the union hired Imperial Security of Johnston to guard the mayor's house at an estimated cost of $500 per day.

Ohio fire chief, others internally charged for missing, erroneous records at fire training academy

Cleveland's outgoing fire chief and two supervisors will face internal charges after an audit revealed dozens of missing and erroneous records at the department's training academy.
