A brush fire in October? Webb Place Fire is one of the latest in years, data shows

With temperatures near freezing and wind chills in the mid-20s, a brush fire broke out Tuesday night, threatening several homes near Rock Island. The temperature was unusual for a brush fire — and so was the date. A start date of Oct. 28 makes the Webb Place Fire one of the latest in the past decade, according to state Department of Natural Resources data.

Yakima firefighters respond to duplex fire caused by portable heater

The Yakima Fire Department was on the scene of a fire at a duplex early Tuesday morning. According to the department, the fire started in the 700 block of South 9th Avenue around 2:19 a.m. Yakima police officers were able to evacuate residents in the connected unit, and there were no injuries. The apartment was completely destroyed in the unit which it started in, while the other unit was not damaged.

Driver killed in fiery crash on I-405 exit ramp in Kirkland

One person was killed Tuesday morning in a fiery crash on an Interstate 405 exit ramp in Kirkland, the Washington State Patrol reports. Traffic backups reportedly are forming in the area, where road closures and lane closures are in effect. Troopers and firefighters responded to the scene, the exit ramp from northbound I-405 to NE 128th Street, at about 10:30 a.

Multiple wildfires spark in Prosser

Several wildfires are being reported across the Prosser area. 911 calls started to pour in at 7:36 p.m. Multiple firefighters across Benton and Yakima counties are responding. The Benton County Sheriff's Office is helping control traffic near one massive blaze at Case Road and Old Inland Empire Highway.

Grant County Fire District No. 3 Receives Award for Management
