Spokane Valley firefighters say 6,500 gallons of chemical leaked from rail car Friday

Firefighters are investigating after a chemical leak from a train car in Spokane Valley. On Friday, Oct. 25, someone called the fire department after seeing a red fluid leaking from a rail car at Kemira Water Solutions at 2317 N. Sullivan Road. Crews later learned that the chemical was ferric chloride and it had been leaking for approximately 30 minutes.

East Link Job Site In Bellevue Shut Down After Worker Seriously Injured

A worker was seriously injured after shoring equipment fell on him at an East Link light rail construction site Thursday, according to Bellevue Fire. Firefighters responded to a rescue call off Bellevue Way Southeast, north of the Interstate 90 on-ramp, just before 11 a.m. Crews were able to pull the man from the debris, and medics rushed him to a Seattle hospital.

Firestorm over massive pile of fire wood in Lake Stevens; Fire Marshal concerned

A man in Lake Stevens is in a back and forth battle with the city over a huge pile of wood on his property. Shane McDaniel says the city is trying to fine him tens of thousands of dollars because the pile is too high. The city claims it's a fire hazard. McDaniel says more than 100 other people helped him split it, and that they donate it to people in need.

Auburn: Valley Regional Fire Authority invites scouts to attend annual Scout Night at the Fire Station

The Valley Regional Fire Authority hosts its annual Scout Night at the Fire Station on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Scouting and adventure groups from the Algona, Auburn and Pacific area are invited to join the VRFA from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lakeland Hills Station 33, 500 182nd Ave. E., Auburn. The evening includes a tour of the fire station, fire safety, basic first aid training, AED awareness, pet safety, cooking safety, knot tying, water safety, forensics and information on how to be prepared for a disaster.

Substance found in Douglas County Courthouse found to be non-hazardous

The Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad has determined a suspicious substance found Thursday at the Douglas County Courthouse in Waterville is non-hazardous. The courthouse will remain closed on Friday to both employees and the public, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The shelter in place issued Thursday evening has been lifted.
