Virginia: 'Hall of Flame' championship belt inspires fastest fire department response

PHOTOS: The Danville Fire Department has just implemented a new system to give its firefighters bragging rights for good work. "Starting this month, we have instituted the “Hall of Flame” Championship Belt," DFD said in a Facebook post. "This will be awarded to the station and shift with the fastest turnout time [each quarter.

Two people in hospital after Yakima house fire

Two people are in the hospital after a house fire in Yakima. One man suffered burn injuries and a woman was transported with smoke inhalation. The fire was on the 500 block of N 22nd Avenue around 2:45 p.m., according to the Yakima Fire Department. The fire is now out, according to crews on scene. The Yakima Fire Department reports that the fire was contained before it could spread to any other structures.

Bolt Creek Fire evacuation orders reduced to Level 1; US 2 reopens

All evacuation orders for the Bolt Creek Fire have been reduced to Level 1 and U.S. Highway 2 has reopened, the King County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday night. Evacuation orders were at Level 3 and Level 2 for some areas of near the fire, which was estimated to have burned 12,070 acres as of Thursday night.

Fire damages house near Orting; Firefighters rescue cat as flames consume garage

PHOTO: Orting Valley Fire & Rescue had to overcome a few challenges Tuesday afternoon. Around 6 p.m. Sept. 27, the fire department received a call about people stuck inside a house while fire erupted in a detached garage. The house was on the outskirts of the city near Orville Road East and Card Road East.

Southridge soccer players help during fire evacuations in Kennewick

Community members came together Thursday while fires burned near homes. Teammates from the Southridge High School varsity girls soccer team worked together to help community members evacuate and keep their homes safe. While setting up on the soccer field just down the hill from the fire and her home, Danika Gabraith and her family noticed the fire and smoke cloud getting bigger.
