Coastside (CA) Looks to Replace Coastal Fire Station

Coastside (CA) Fire Protection District has outgrown its fire station and officials are looking to replace it dipping into a $10 million reserve account set aside for the project, according to a report published by Half Moon Bay Review.

According to the report the money will be used for the Moss Beach Station 44 site rather than choosing a lot on the coast for a new location and new facility. The plan calls for the addition of a second floor and more space for more firefighters and three 65-foot bays to accommodate more apparatus and widening the turn radius at the station, according to the report.

1925 American LaFrance Fire Engine Returns Home to Haverford (PA)

A nearly 100-year-old fire engine has made the long journey back to where it began in 1925 and will be on display Saturday, September 10 at Kelly Music for Life’s Haverford First Fest Music Festival, celebrating First Responders, at 50 East Eagle Road, Havertown, DelcoTimes.com reported Thursday.

Oakmont Fire Company located one of its original trucks and arranged for its return to Havertown to be cleaned up and restored, the report said. The 1925 American LaFrance Fire Engine still bears the name, “Oakmont Fire Co. No. 1” and features the original bell and gold leaf trim as well as other original features, the report said.

Oakmont Fire sold the truck in the 1950s to a private collector in New Jersey. Since then, it has changed hands to one other collector until Oakmont tracked it down in Pleasant Hill (MO) outside Kansas City and transported it back home to Havertown in July, according to the report.

Baysville, Canada Welcomes Home Firefighters Who Return from AL with Used Fire Truck

It wasn’t Christmas but it may have felt like it as the new (actually used) fire truck for the Baysville fire hall made a pit stop in Dwight at the Lake of Bays municipal office on its way back from Alabama, DopperOnline.ca reported.

People gathered outside the municipal office last Thursday, September 1 to welcome the firefighters who flew to Alabama to drive the pumper back to the Huntsville Lake of Bays Fire Department’s Station 4 in Baysville, the report said.

Sirens blaring, the fire truck made a grand entrance. Lake of Bays Mayor Terry Glover welcomed the men home.

The 2011 fire truck replaces one from 1999. Mayor Glover couldn’t wait to blow the “new” fire pumper’s horn.
