VIDEO: A local Deer Park man has invented a new tool to fight fires.
Jacob Schuler is the founder and CEO of his company Blaze Barrier, and he hopes his invention can offer a safe and more effective way to slow the travel of fires.
The Blaze Barrier is a chain of fire activated capsules that release retardant to slow and stop ground moving fires.

A stubborn five-alarm fire burned for hours through a tire shop in Jamaica, Queens on Tuesday.
Firefighters responded to 150-17 Liberty Ave. around 5:15 p.m.
The fire started in the rear of a two-story tire shop where flames were seen billowing 20 feet into the air.
Part of the building and roof collapsed.

VIDEO: When you call 911, the first responders who come to your rescue have gone through rigorous training to get there. Firefighters at Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District are training up.
Jordan Green is the Lieutenant Paramedic and leads operations. He says in the case that someone is stuck in a car, firefighters go through a specific process to safely get them out.

VIDEO: Eight-year-old Romeo Weaver had a dream of being a firefighter, and the Gulfport Fire Department made that happen.
Though there have been several tests, Romeo is technically still undiagnosed, but his mother says they are labeling it cerebral palsy.
She added that before he caught COVID, Romeo was able to feed himself and use his walker, but after that, things went downhill.

PHOTOS: Five people were displaced after a fire destroyed a triplex in Everett.
According to the Everett Fire Department, crews responded to the call of a fire in the 400 block of 45th St. SW.
Crews said smoke could be seen from Mukilteo Blvd.
The roof collapsed from the significant damage.
Thankfully, no one was injured, and all occupants made it out safely.
