Samsung is recalling 1 million stoves to prevent pets from setting homes on fire

Samsung is recalling knobs on some of its electric stoves, warning that fires can be set off if pets — or even humans — bump into them. Several videos have shown pets accidentally igniting fires from jumping onto stoves and pawing at the knobs. A Colorado dog set off a house fire in June by doing just that, when the boxes on top of the stove caught on fire.

More South Hill fires reported by Spokane Fire Department

VIDEO: The Spokane Fire Department confirmed another string of fires happened on the South Hill Wednesday night. The fire department confirmed that two fires broke out behind the ACE Hardware store on South Regal Street. The fire department said both fires were small and there was no damage left from the fires.

Fire Report: Swawilla Fire contained

The Swawilla Fire, ignited by lightning at 11:30 p.m. on July 17, was Washington's largest active blaze, having consumed approximately 53,500 acres. The fire is now 98% contained, as of Thursday according to InciWeb. According to a press release from the Swawilla I Fire team, the firefighters will continue to identify and suppress smoking areas and residual pockets of heat and focus on mopping containment lines.

VIDEO: 2 Killed In Fiery Semi Crash On I-44 In Oklahoma

A semi crash early Wednesday killed two people on I-44 near Catoosa. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports a UPS semi, towing three trailers, stalled in the middle lane of I-44 at 177th East Avenue. A second semi hit it from behind, veered to the side, and caught fire. The driver of the second semi, and passenger, were killed.

Antique helmets help preserve firefighting history in one Wisconsin city
