Marysvilles exploding population stretches emergency responders to breaking point

Marysville doubled in size between 2006-2016, jumping from 32,000 people to 65,000. That kind of increase affects everything from housing and traffic to infrastructure. It also puts a strain on those who are sworn to serve and protect. Back in 2009, the Marysville fire department responded to 10,000 calls.

Fire damages half of Yakima duplex

Clothing and other material put too close to a baseboard heater caused a fire that damaged a Cornell Avenue duplex late Thursday night, a Yakima fire official said. Firefighters were called out to the 1500 block of Cornell Avenue about 10 p.m. after a passerby spotted fire at the duplex and notified the occupants, Shift Commander Jennifer Norton said.

Fire consumes house near South Perry District in Spokane

Fire consumed a house near the South Perry District in Spokane early Friday morning. The fire near 5th Ave. and Crestline St. broke out around 5:30am. Neighbors tells KXLY 4 News the house was vacant and he just been sold earlier this month. The roof collapsed while our crews were on the scene. The Spokane Fire Department says there were no injuries to firefighters.

Video helps secure arrest in Wenatchee dumpster fire

Wenatchee Police relied on surveillance systems from two businesses and some old fashioned detective work to track down a suspect who started a dumpster fire early this week. Sgt. Brian Chance said 31 year old Liam Gainey of Wenatchee was identified as a suspect in the fire started early Sunday around 1a.

Investigators believe marijuana oil operation caused explosion in Kennewick

Officers believe the cause for a small explosion in a Kennewick home on Wednesday afternoon may be an operation to extract marijuana oil. Kennewick police and firefighters responded to the 30 Block of South Dawes Street near Edison Elementary School around 3:30 p.m. Officers saw 37-year-old Gabrial Schumacher running from the scene, they took him into custody shortly after.
