Man injured as fire destroys converted semi trailer in Pacific

A man suffered burn injuries early Thursday after fire broke out in a semi trailer that had been converted into sleeping quarters, emergency officials said. Firefighters responded to the scene, in the 800 block of Butte Avenue SE, at about 5:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a trailer fire. A man was found at the scene with first- and second-degree burns.

Fire damages Bellevue mosque for second time in just over a year

For the second time in just over a year, Bellevue firefighters were called to battle a blaze at the Islamic Center of Eastside in Bellevue. Crews responded to the fire in the 14700 block of Main Street just before 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The building has been vacant since Jan.

Fire season could be bad in Yakima Valley

Wildland firefighters expect the Pacific Northwest to see another busy fire season this year with land around Yakima especially vulnerable. “If I were to pick one place that might experience above-average fire danger, it’s the Yakima Valley and the eastern slopes” of the Cascade Mountains, said Josh Clark, a meteorologist with the state Department of Natural Resources.

Firefighters rescue woman trapped in West Seattle rollover crash

PHOTO: Firefighters rescued a woman who was trapped when her vehicle rolled over and crashed Wednesday morning in West Seattle. Police and emergency crews responded to the scene, in the 2600 block of Walnut Avenue SW, at about 6:45 a.m. after receiving reports of a serious crash. A vehicle was found rolled over onto its side at the scene, with a woman trapped inside.

Car fire burns auto repair shop owner in Yakima

A man has been burned after a car inside his auto body shop caught fire in Yakima. A crew with the Yakima Fire Department (YFD) went to Central Auto Body & Painting, located at 2302 S. 1st Street, at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday. The fire prevention officer was the first to arrive and reported seeing black smoke coming from the front shop door.
