Construction workers help save 11-year-old girl from Vancouver house fire

Two construction workers who spotted smoke on their drive to work Thursday morning helped pull an 11-year-old girl from a burning house in the Barberton area. The two men located the house fire shortly before 7:30 a.m. at 10505 N.E. Maitland Road and knocked on the door to alert anyone who was home, according to the Vancouver Fire Department.

Bicyclist Dies After Collison with Fire Truck in Grover Beach (CA)

A 29-year-old man has died after his electric bicycle and a The Five Cities Fire Authority engine collided at a Grover Beach (CA) intersection, according to a report published by KSBY 6 NBC.

According to the report, the man crossed in front of an oncoming fire engine at about 10:20 pm on Wednesday night when the apparatus was heading north on 13th Street.

The impact on the left side of the man threw him from the electric bike and the three firefighters in the engine immediately jumped out and gave the man aid, according to the report, which said the man was taken to the hospital in Arroyo Grande where he died.

The crash is under investigation, according to the report.

Valdosta (GA) Fire Department Purchases Demo Truck to Avoid Supply Chain Issues

The Valdosta (GA) Fire Department will shave time off the wait period for a new fire truck by buying a demonstrator unit from Sutphen Corp., according a report published by Valdosta Daily Times.

According to the report, Valdosta has an immediate need for a new truck and the current supply chain issues made the demonstrator unit, already in production, an attractive choice.

The new demonstrator will be completed in about eight months rather than 22 months for something custom-built for the department, according to the report.

The new truck cost $724,990, according to the report.

Clarion (PA) Fire & Hose Company No. 1 Puts $700K Pumper in Service

A new rescue pumper has been delivered to the Clarion (PA) Fire & Hose Company No. 1 and the 34-foot-long apparatus was on it’s first call in less than 12 hours after being put in service, according to a report published by The Leader-Vindicator.

The purchase of the $700,000 Pierce Enforcer was two years in the making and is expected to be the most used apparatus in the fleet, according to the report.

Some of the features of the apparatus include a 505-horsepower engine, 1,000-gallon water tank, a 30-gallon foam tank and a 2,000-gpm pump, according to the report.

Clarion’s old truck was purchased by an individual that donated it to a fire department in Mexico that welcomed it with a good shining and a parade, according to the report.

VIDEO: All lanes of I-5 SB open after truck blast led to huge traffic jam in Seattle

PHOTOS: State transportation crews have reopened all southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Seattle Thursday evening after a vehicle carrying liquid oxygen caught fire and exploded, snarling traffic for motorists through the midday and afternoon commute. No injuries were reported during the incident, which resulted in the closure of both north- and southbound lanes near downtown Seattle for over an hour.
