Man killed near Monroe by collapsed mobile home

Snohomish County Fire District 7 reports a man was killed while trying to move a single-wide mobile home from his property in the 26700 block of Old Pipeline Road in Monroe on Wednesday, Nov. 22. The victim was reportedly attempting to remove the mobile home when it collapsed on top of him, according to Fire District 7, which was dispatched to the scene around noon last Wednesday.

Man suffers minor burns in fire, explosion in northeast Spokane

A man suffered minor burns in a fire and explosion in northeast Spokane early Sunday morning. Fire crews were called to a home on East Bridgeport Avenue near North Rebecca Street around 12:40 a.m. after neighbors reported the sounds of an explosion and fire coming from the home. When firefighters arrived, they found the basement and first floor of the house were already heavily involved in the fire.

Firefighters rescued a female from the rain-swollen Tolt River on Saturday afternoon, according to Eastside Fire & Rescue. She was on a downed tree in the river, and firefighters managed to get her to safety. The rescue was a joint effort between Eastside Fire and the King County Sheriff's Office.

Renton, local firefighters have a new regional asset to combat alcohol and petroleum-based fires

Thanks to a grant from the Department of Ecology, firefighters in south King County now have a new tool to help them combat alcohol and petroleum-based fires. The $100,000 grant was a collaborative effort between the Renton Regional Fire Authority and the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority. The new tool come in the form of two trailers that each carry 660 gallons of a foam concentrate that, when injected into a fire hose, can coat the surface of flammable liquids and extinguish them if they are already burning, or create an airtight barrier to prevent them from catching fire.

Moses Lake Firefighters hand out coats to kids in need

Grey and rainy skies blanketed the Columbia Basin on Tuesday. The need for a good, warm winter coat was evident from the moment you stepped out into the elements. For some in the community a good winter coat is hard to come by. The Moses Lake Firefighters Local 1258 helped address the need by delivering winter coats to kids at four schools in Moses Lake on Tuesday through their annual Operation Warm program.
