Spokane Valley firefighters battle house fire with flames visible from over a half-mile away

Spokane Valley firefighters worked to extinguish a house fire early Thursday morning that had flames visible from more than a half-mile away. Units responded to a report of a structure fire in the 12000 block of E. 12th Avenue at about 2 a.m., where they found a house fully engulfed, according to a fire department news release.

Fire at Vancouver 7-Eleven damages half of structure

A fire at the Carter Park 7-Eleven damaged half of the interior structure and 90 percent of the store’s contents. The damage totaled approximately $310,000, Vancouver Fire Marshal Heidi Scarpelli said Thursday. The cause remains under investigation. Spokane Fire crews worked to lift an SUV off two trapped motorcyclists

Two motorcyclists were critically injured Wednesday night after a collision with an SUV that left them trapped underneath the vehicle. The crash occurred in the intersection of Broad Avenue and Nevada Street just before 7 p.m. Wednesday. After the collision the male driver and female passenger both ended up trapped underneath the SUV, said Spokane Fire Department Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer.

Rescue crews pull man up from rocks beneath Monroe Street Bridge in Spokane

Emergency crews worked Wednesday night to rescue a man from the rocks below the viewing area beneath the Monroe Street Bridge Wednesday evening. Firefighters on the scene told KHQ the man was critically injured when he landed on the rocks below and did not make it to the water of the Spokane River. The man was in critical condition Wednesday evening.

Woman held for allegedly starting 5 fires in Marysville

A woman is in custody for allegedly starting five fires in Marysville Wednesday afternoon. Just after 2:10 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 11000 block of State Avenue for a report of smoke coming from an abandoned home. Firefighters observed flames and launched a defensive attack to control the blaze.
