Snohomish County Fire District 7 is threatening to end its longtime partnership with the city of Mill Creek. Fire commissioner Randy Fay presented a termination letter at Tuesday night’s Mill Creek City Council meeting. The letter says service will end Jan. 1, 2018, if the two sides can’t agree on a new contract.

Clark County Fire District 3 will propose in the November election a 13-cent increase to the district property tax rate to fund emergency operations. The 13 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value levy rate increase would amount to an additional $4.33 in property taxes per month for a property valued at $400,000.

After 32 years of service as a Longview firefighter, the moment that best defines Luke Amos’ career happened when he wasn’t on duty. Amos was home at lunchtime when he got a hysterical call asking where his granddaughter was.
