Crews respond to small brush fire in Lincoln County

The Department of Natural Resources firefighters are responding to a brush fire in Lincoln County Monday evening. The fire is on SR 231 at milepost 36 near Reardan. Firefighters say the fire is about 40 acres as of 5 p.m. Monday, and that crews have a line around 50 percent of the fire. Stevens County Fire District 1 reports crews are making good progress and that the fire has slowed down Monday evening.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 hires executive coach to iron out differences

The elected commissioners at south Snohomish County’s largest and most political fire district have hired an executive coach to help them get along. They say the coach will prepare them as Fire District 1 pitches a merger to voters in the primary election this summer. Meeting records show they also thought the move would alleviate public relations problems from a race-related controversy in March.

Clarkston City Officials Advised Not to Talk to Fire Dept.

Clarkston City Councilor Belinda Campbell was visibly upset Monday when city officials were not allowed to talk openly with the Clarkston Fire Department about the future. The Public Safety Committee and several firefighters had finally gathered around the same table, but several minutes prior to the special meeting, city attorney Todd Richardson advised the council to say absolutely nothing.

6 residents displaced by early morning Seattle house fire

Six people have been displaced by a house fire early Monday in Seattle's South Park neighborhood that was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials, fire officials said. Crews responded to the scene, in the 1200 block of South Cloverdale Street, at about 5:50 a.m. after receiving reports of smoke and flames at the home.

Suspect in Lynnwood church van arson arrested

Firefighters battled flames on a Lynnwood church shuttle van as small explosions went off overnight. Hours later, police arrested a suspect seen in surveillance video on arson charges.
