State crews mobilized for fire burning near Leavenworth

State fire assistance was mobilized Tuesday night to support firefighters working to put out a fire burning in Chelan County, three miles north of Leavenworth. Officials said about 100 homes were on the level 3 evacuation as of about 5:00 p.m. The evacuation is for Sunitsch Canyon to Eagle Creek, all of Spromberg Canyon and both sides of Chumstick Highway.

Grant County Fire District 3's Luke Garrison named state Volunteer Fire Fighter of the Year

Grant County Fire District 3 volunteer Luke Garrison was named Volunteer Fire Fighter of the Year at a state conference on Saturday. Lt. Garrison was honored during the Washington State Fire Fighters’ Association’s 94th annual ceremony held in Wenatchee. Garrison’s award is for the 2016 fire season, one of the worst on record in Washington.

Follow Up: Fire marshal searches for cause of Federal Way strip mall fire

The fire marshal and the ATF were back at Center Plaza Mall in Federal Way Monday, searching for the cause of a fire that destroyed one of three buildings that make up the complex. The estimated price tag for the losses is $5 million. All of it went up into smoke Sunday morning in a two-alarm fire that tore through the building.

Snohomish firefighters use CPR to save dog

Firefighters from Snohomish Fire District 7 saved a dog from a house fire in Bothell Monday afternoon. Fire crews were called to a home near the 17600 block of Valley Circle Drive around 3:05 p.m. When they arrived, firefighters noticed smoke coming from the windows of the home. Everyone had made it out of the home safely, but a dog was still inside.

Federal Way home destroyed in fire

Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed an elderly man’s home in Federal Way early Monday morning. South King County Fire & Rescue firefighters responded to the blaze at the residence in the 3700 block of Southwest 332nd Place shortly after 4:30 a.m. to find it engulfed.
