Snohomish firefighters use CPR to save dog

Firefighters from Snohomish Fire District 7 saved a dog from a house fire in Bothell Monday afternoon. Fire crews were called to a home near the 17600 block of Valley Circle Drive around 3:05 p.m. When they arrived, firefighters noticed smoke coming from the windows of the home. Everyone had made it out of the home safely, but a dog was still inside.

Federal Way home destroyed in fire

Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed an elderly man’s home in Federal Way early Monday morning. South King County Fire & Rescue firefighters responded to the blaze at the residence in the 3700 block of Southwest 332nd Place shortly after 4:30 a.m. to find it engulfed.

Seattle: Several boats burn as flames rip through Salmon Bay boat house

Several boats were burned when a fire ripped through a boat house on Salmon Bay, Seattle fire officials said. The fire broke out just before 8 p.m. in the 5100 block of Shilshole Avenue Northwest in Ballard, sending a plume of smoke visible throughout much of the Seattle area. Fire officials said a 70-foot wooden boat inside the boat house was on fire.

Ten Federal Way businesses gutted in strip mall fire

Ten businesses in a Federal Way strip mall were destroyed in a fire Sunday morning. The call came in around 4:20 a.m. after a person reported seeing smoke coming out of a coffee shop at a strip mall near The Commons. Firefighters from several districts quickly responded and crews spent several hours battling the flames.

Plenty of ‘grassoline' as fire season begins in Central Washington

Mark Martinez plans to move his family’s 4,000 head of sheep to grazing areas west of Naches and north of Ellensburg next week before fire season gets underway. But given the unusually rainy spring, he’s worried about just how much cheatgrass has grown in those areas. “Especially with the (warm) temperatures forecast next week,” he said recently.
