Kicking off National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, Acting Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the Division of Highway Traffic Safety (HTS) today announced the results of a 2021 study that found at any given time, one in five drivers on selected high-crash corridors in New Jersey were driving distracted.

A fire that started around 2:30 a.m. Friday sent one person to the hospital and burned two units inside a two-story apartment building.
The Everett Fire Department responded to the second-story fire in the 3600 block of Hoyt Avenue, which was without power for about an hour. A man in his 50s who lives in the apartment was able to evacuate the unit and was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett then Harborview Medical Center.

As work continues on the Hatch Road bridge project, fire agencies impacted by the closure are also having to adjust their operations.
Right now the bridge connecting Hatch Road and U.S. 195 is closed, cutting off the commute for some and part of Spokane County Fire District 8 (SCFD8) from the rest of its jurisdiction.

PHOTOS: Fire crews responded to a report of a large fire on Thursday, according to a Facebook post from the Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue.
At around 11:20 a.m. on March 31, crews responded to the 12000 block of Olympic View Road Northwest for a large shop fire.
The shop fire was described as a three-car garage with living quarters.

San Bernardino County Fire (SBCoFD) has recently received four new Boise Mobile Equipment (BME) Type III Brush Engines. The apparatus have been delivered and are being updated, labeled and then deployed to area fire stations. Just this week Brush Engine (BE) 10 was placed into service at Fire Station 10 in the community of Phelan.
Type III Apparatus aka “Brush Engines” are apparatus specifically designed and equipped to fight vegetation fires. The engines are four-wheel drive, have a short wheel base & carry an equipment inventory to fight brush fires.
