Livermore (ME) Fire Department Needs New Engine

Livermore (ME) Fire Department officials say that ongoing issues with Engine I have exacerbated plans to purchase a new apparatus, reports sunjournal.com. They add that there have been electrical problems with the engine since its purchase.

The issue seems to be with the modules, the report says. Although the problem hasn’t been found, four-plus hours of work have gotten it running again.

A cab-over truck is desired for the new apparatus, the report says.

Voters approved $100,000 last year, the second installment of a three-year plan to purchase a new truck, according to the report. If another $100,000 is approved this year, it leaves $200,000 that could be borrowed. Officials are working with three companies to get a bid.

Godfrey (IL) Seeking Bids for New Centralized Fire Station

Bids are currently being sought for the new centralized fire station planned in Godfrey (IL), reports thetelegraph.com.

Voters last April approved a $7.5 million bond to raise money to consolidate Godfrey stations 1 and 2 into a new facility planned at the former Hi Way House at 3023 Godfrey Rd.

Officials say the district expects to break ground by mid-summer, while construction is expected to take about a year and a half with an early 2024 completion date.

The fire protection district—a separate entity from the village which employs 17 full-time and 12 paid-on-call staff—covers 36 square miles and 18,000 people. It has in its fleet two rescue pumpers, a reserve rescue pumper, a reserve pumper, a water tanker/tender, two EMS vehicles, two brush trucks, and a command vehicle.

An agreement with the village has the site for the planned firehouse transferred to the fire district in exchange for the village eventually taking over Station 2 at 1712 W. Delmar to be used for the Godfrey Public Works Department, the report says. In addition, Station 1 at 6011 Godfrey Rd. will be sold at auction, with the proceeds going to the village.
