FirstNet includes new deployable types in expansion of dedicated fleet

AT&T and the FirstNet Authority announced the addition of 19 deployable assets to the dedicated FirstNet fleet of mobile LTE vehicles, with Communications Vehicles and Micro SatCOLTs providing different operational features and flexibility than was available previously. Fred Scalera, AT&T’s associate director for FirstNet, said he believes the new deployables will help AT&T—the nationwide contractor building the FirstNet nationwide public-safety broadband network (NPSBN)—deliver “next-level” communications support to public safety during emergency-response efforts.

Spokane Fire Department explores funding for permanent fire station in Eagle Crest

Spokane City Fire department wants to build a permanent fire station to serve the Eagle Ridge, Latah Valley area, but have not found a way to fund it yet. Six years ago, Spokane City Fire Department opened a temporary fire station at the foot of Spokane’s Eagle Ridge development. Station 5 has since reduced response times for the Latah Valley.

Firefighters conduct controlled burn near Ahtanum Ridge in Yakima County

Firefighters from the Yakama Nation and Yakima County Fire District 5 conducted a series of controlled burns near Ahtanum Ridge on Thursday. The fires were meant to reduce the amount of fuel that could be ignited by people using fireworks during the Independence Day holiday, according to the fire district.
