Person cutting pipe causes big brush fire near Soap Lake

Firefighters with Grant County Fire District 7 battled a multi-acre brush fire off SR 28 near Soap Lake on Thursday. Grant County Fire Chief Kirk Sheppard says the blaze grew to eight acres in size. At around 11 a.m., Sheppard says a well driller was using a torch to cut a pipe which sparked the blaze.

IL Fire Departments Get Grant Money for Fire Equipment

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker announced that $3.3 million has been awarded to over 140 different fire departments and EMS providers, reports My Wabash Valley.

The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s 2021 Small Equipment Grant Program will provide the funding. The OSFM said it received 448 applications totaling $10.5 million in requests for this grant period.

The Martinsville Fire Protection District in Clark County, which will receive $26,000, and the City of Olney Fire Department in Richland County, which will receive more than $25,000. The maximum amount of money a department could receive was $26,000.

The grant money will be used to purchase new firefighting equipment and emergency service tools.

Quincy (FL) Getting Aerial Fire Apparatus

The Quincy Fire Department will soon have a new aerial ladder fire truck, reports WTXL Tallahassee.

Government officials will present a $755,340 check for a new aerial ladder fire truck.

The $101.5 billion state budget allocates more than $31 million Gadsden County projects.

Kenner (LA) Fire Department Relocated Due to Fire Station Mold

A Kenner fire department station was relocated after mold concerns, reports WDSU 6 News.

All fire stations were then tested for mold and results show all have mold. Station 39 tested positive for aerosolized mold above normal levels, which can cause respiratory symptoms.

The administration has authorized emergency procedures to obtain temporary housing and immediate remediation and repair of the station has started.
