Colorado Springs (CO) Seeking Bids for Station 23

The city of Colorado Springs (CO) is seeking bids for Fire Station 23, which will be located at the current fire headquarters building at 375 Printers Parkway, reports SoutheastExpress.org.

Bids are due by May 14 and the winning bid will be awarded on May 26, with a notice to proceed issued on June 4. The project—which will cost $5 million and is being funded with the issuance of certificates of participation—is expected to take up to a year to complete.

The new station will house Engine 23 and a crew of four.

Town of Smithfield (RI) Approves Plans for New Fire Station

Smithfield (RI) town officials recently approved plans for a new fire station in the northeast part of town, reports ValleyBreeze.com.

The proposed two-story building will feature a three-bay station atop a 2.69-acre lot at 321 George Washington Highway at the corner of Lydia Ann Road, the report said. Officials noted that it will have a traditional station design with red brick and stonework.

Alburnett (IA) Fire Department Moves Into New Station

The Alburnett (IA) Fire Department recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new station on Roosevelt Street, reports kcrg.com.

Fire officials said plans for a larger station have been in the works for more than 20 years. The nearly 70-year-old former station, located on N. Main Ave., was too cramped for the 22-firefighter team.
