Annexations fire up pride: Fire districts’ pacts with Battle Ground, Woodland praised

Two fire districts in Clark County have implemented visible changes early this year after separate annexation votes last year. Voters in Clark County Fire District 3 and Battle Ground approved the city’s annexation into the district’s coverage area in February 2020. Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue and Woodland voters did the same in August.

Spokane fire crews rescue one person from burning home in West Central

One person is recovering after Spokane Fire crews rescued them from a back room during an early morning house fire on the 1800 block of West Gardner Ave. According to the Spokane Fire Department, the person who was rescued from the home was transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

Yakima shed fire claims lives of one child, one adult

Two people died in the West Valley of Yakima on Friday morning in an apparent shed fire. Sources close to the situation say that one of the two fatalities was a child. The fire allegedly took place down an unnamed road off of the 7600 block of Ahtanum Rd between S. 74th Ave. and S. 78th Ave. According to County Fire Marshal Chris Pedersen, the shed caught fire around 8:30 a.

Spokane firefighters brave bitter cold temperatures while fighting fires

Water puts out fire, it's what we have all been taught since we were kids. But Spokane Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer told us, when you add extreme cold it’s a dangerous combination. “On the fire ground between the mist and the direct contact with water all the firefighters end up pretty soaked,” Schaeffer said.

Rosenbauer Appoints VP of Engineering

Rosenbauer America welcomes Vince Anevicius as their new Vice President of Engineering. Vince is a collaborative leader with an impactful record of success in building high-performance teams, leading quality, optimizing costs, and strengthening supplier relationships.

A Wisconsin resident, Vince has worked across the United States and Europe. He has a diverse career in many industries throughout his 30-year career, among which include automotive, heavy truck, and defense.

Vince received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin and graduate degree from Keller Graduate School of Management. Prior to joining Rosenbauer, Vince held leadership positions at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, CNH Global, and Oshkosh Corp. His multifaceted career gives him a unique understanding on interdisciplinary relationships.

“Vince’s education and work experience have helped him develop his skills in problem solving using an outside-the-box approach,” said John Slawson, Chairman & CEO of Rosenbauer America. “We are eager to enhance Rosenbauer’s already innovative engineering department with more of that creative thinking that Vince brings with him.”

In his free time Vince enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, and three grandchildren; lumberjacking; and working on cars, specifically diesel-powered ones to upgrade their performance.
