Ocean Shores Fire Department introduces new ambulance into its fleet of emergency medical vehicles

The Ocean Shores Fire Department is proud to introduce a new ambulance into its fleet of emergency medical vehicles. The department recently took possession of the 2020 Dodge Ram apparatus a few weeks ago and now is able to place it into service. The new ambulance is a copy of the last ambulance purchased in 2017, with the addition of new features unique to our community.

Three-alarm fire destroys home in Yakima; no one hurt

A three-alarm fire destroyed a home in the 1800 block of South 12th Avenue early Tuesday. The fire was reported at 12:23 a.m., according to the Yakima Fire Department. Winds at the time were more than 20 mph, which threatened surrounding homes on three sides, according to a news release. Because of the winds and the fast-spreading fire, firefighters couldn’t get inside and fought the blaze from the exterior.

Othello Christmas baskets delivered on time, despite pandemic

After more than 40 years, the volunteers who organize, assemble and distribute the Christmas baskets of food and other items in Othello have it down to a science. The delivery drivers — also volunteers — traveled Saturday into the Adams County Fire District No. 5 fire station two at a time. As they rolled to a stop, the crew was ready.

Florida county recruits most diverse class of firefighter aspirants in history

The 91st class of 65 new Orange County Fire Rescue recruits marks the department’s most diverse class in history. Department officials say more than half of the members in the group are Hispanic, Black or Asian. Recruit Paris Nunn, a graduate of the University of Central Florida, is one of 19 women in the class.
