Maryland fire department demonstrates capabilities of new fire boat

VIDEO: For more than ten years now, the Ocean City Fire Department has been able to take their life saving efforts to the water thanks to a larger fire boat they have. However, that fire boat is currently in need of repairs so they have a new vessel that’s allowing them to continue saving lives. “We’ve seen a tremendous response this summer with our fire boat being staffed and being able to provide that rapid service,” says Ryan Whittington, an Ocean City firefighter and medic.

Region: 'Nothing left in the bucket,' Wildfire resources run thin

Justin Silvera came off the fire lines in Northern California after a grueling 36 straight days battling wildfires and evacuating residents ahead of the flames. Before that, he and his crew had worked for 20 days, followed by a three-day break. Silvera, a 43-year-old battalion chief with Cal Fire, California's state firefighting agency, said he's lost track of the blazes he's fought this year.

Marysville holds 9/11 remembrance

Marysville city officials and fire district staff gathered at the Marysville Library to remember 9/11 again this year. This year's ceremony was held online due to COVID-19. "It is my hope that by sharing this ceremony online it will make it more available to people in our community," said Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring.

Cold Creek Fire closes Highway 12 over White Pass

Highway 12 is closed both directions over White Pass because of a forest fire. The Cold Creek Fire started at 8:30 p.m. Monday and was 60 acres as of Tuesday morning, according to the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center. White Pass parks manager Eric Schultheiss saw the fire while driving to the summit and initially responded with mountain manager Ross Forman.
