COVID-19 Hospitalization Map Continues to Darken

COVID-19 is continuing to fill U.S. hospital beds. As of July 20, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 was over 58,000, or about as high as it was in April, when hospitals in the New York City area were scouring the world for ventilators. Surges in hospitalization rates are now showing up in every state in the South and Southwest other than New Mexico.

Families of 9/11 Victims Will Not Read Names at Ceremony This Year

Spokane Fire Department Saddened to Announce the Death of Recently Retired Firefighter Ed Foster

Spokane Fire Department (SFD) is saddened to announce the death of recently retired Firefighter Ed Foster on July 26, 2020 due to complications from a cardiac event. Firefighter Foster joined SFD on March 29,1993 and was most recently assigned to SFD Fire Station 17 prior to his retirement on June 25, 2020.

2 new wildfires pop up in Eastern Washington, prompting some evacuations

Two new wildfires are burning in northern Eastern Washington Tuesday, according to the state Department of Natural Resources. The Anglin Fire broke out near Tonasket Monday night and had grown to 1,000 acres Tuesday morning. Firefighters don't have any containment on it and some evacuations have been ordered, though DNR officials did not provide specifics.

COVID-19 deaths related to facility outbreak now up to 12 in Kittitas County

The Kittitas County Public Health Department reported new coronavirus cases and deaths from two long-term care facilities in Ellensburg. As of Tuesday, KCPHD says Pacifica Senior Living has reported four deaths and Prestige Post-Acute and Rehab in Kittitas Valley has eight deaths, totaling 12 deaths in Kittitas County.
