Residents and businesses in Lakewood were evacuated Wednesday morning due to toxic smoke from an industrial fire. West Pierce Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Hallie McCurdy said crews were called to Specialty Products, Inc., located at 2310 104th St Ct S, around 6:30 a.m. McCurdy said the company makes polyurethane coatings, manufactures foam and that the building has a lot of hazardous materials inside.

At least two families are displaced from their homes after a tree crashed through a duplex in Tacoma. Neighbors said a tree snapped just after midnight during a devastating windstorm, Wednesday, in the 6000 block of Mason Avenue South. A woman is out of a hospital after the tree crashed through her bedroom roof, pinning her to her bed.

VIDEO: A large fire broke out at an apartment complex near the Industrial Canal in New Orleans East Wednesday night. The cause of the fire is not yet known, but it appears to have broken out at or near the Gentilly Ridge apartment complex off of Chef Menteur Highway. NOFD officials say the complex has about 100 units in it, about 90 of them occupied.
