Two Pets Die in House Fire North of Tenino

While there were no human injuries, two pets, a cat and a turtle, were lost in a house fire north of Tenino on Tuesday morning. The fire started in the garage and then spread to the main structure, according to S.E. Thurston Fire Authority Chief Mark King. The cause of the fire is still unknown. S.

'They rescued the rescuers': Avista saves Spokane fire truck trapped under power lines

Spokane firefighters had to be rescued when their truck became trapped under fallen power lines Wednesday morning. Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer spoke with 4 News Now on keeping an eye out for downed power lines — saying they can be hard to spot as they are dark and strewn across the road. “We actually had one fall on a fire truck this morning, it disabled the fire truck and the people in it, so we had to get some help,” said Schaeffer.

Woman rescued from partially collapsed house caused by fallen tree

Emergency crews rescued a woman trapped inside a partially collapsed house on the South Hill Wednesday morning. Spokane Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer said the house, on 63rd Ave, was hit by a fallen tree. The tree broke off the top and speared between a husband and wife who were in their bedroom. The woman was pinned and had to be extricated.

Snohomish Fire might join Everett Fire to create regional fire system

Snohomish’s Fire District 4 has decided to study the possibility of forming a Regional Fire Authority (RFA) with the Everett Fire Department. “This is the next step in investigating the possibility (that) it makes sense,” fire board Commissioner Jim Schmoker said during the Dec. 14 Fire District 4 Commissioners Meeting.
