Homeowners to be allowed back to Malden, Pine City for first time since devastating wildfire

Homeowners in Malden and Pine City will be allowed back into city limits for the first time since a devastating wildfire burned the majority of homes and buildings in the area. Level 3 evacuations have been in place since Monday, when the fire quickly swept through both towns. No one was killed, but only a handful of structures remain.

Sumner Grade fire triples in size, forces more evacuations

A wildfire that's forced hundreds of evacuations in Pierce County has tripled in size since Tuesday morning and is threatening more homes. The Sumner Grade fire in the Bonney Lake-Sumner area has burned more than 150 acres and destroyed four homes, forcing more Level 3 (get out now) evacuations overnight.

Washington wildfires: 1,500 firefighters on front lines of 'one of the worst nightmares we can imagine'

More than 587,000 acres have burned in Washington state since Monday, topping the half-a-million acres that burned in the state's worst wildfire season in 2015. Public Lands Commissioner Hillary Franz told Q13 News Wednesday morning that most of the state's resources are focused on the largest fire - the Pearl Hill-Cold Springs wildfire near Omak in north central Washington.

Fire destroys Tukwila apartment building hours after earlier fire

VIDEO: A 2-alarm fire destroyed a Tukwila apartment building Wednesday morning just hours after firefighters had been there dousing an earlier blaze. Firefighters were originally called to the Foster Creek Apartments on Macadam Road South around 6 p.m. after a fire started in a balcony and spread into its main unit, according to Jay Wittwer with Tukwila Fire.

Blaze destroys structures near Colfax

A fast-moving brush fire here destroyed two houses and a shop Monday, Sept. 7. Fire crews were dispatched at 10:40 a.m. for a fire on the hill west of the city where flames were reported between Cromwell and West streets. The blaze spread across the hillside and destroyed the Garcia family home on Cromwell street and the Pugh family home on Crestview Drive, officials said.
