The Spokane Valley Fire Department extinguished a mobile home fire around 3:30 Saturday afternoon. The department said no one was inside when it started.
It sparked on the 17000 block of 5th Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Twelve units responded to the fire, including engines from Spokane Fire District 8, according to a press release.

The Chelan County High Angle Rescue Team rescued a climber Thursday morning in Pine Canyon after the climber injured his leg.
About 9:15 p.m., RiverCom dispatchers received a report from passing motorists of potential flames on a hillside in Pine Canyon, near milepost 142 on Highway 2, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Cowlitz County Department of Emergency Management lifted a shelter-in-place advisory overnight for residents living within a two-mile radius of an industrial fire in Longview. Thursday night, fire officials asked residents in the area to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed.
The two-alarm fire is at J M Huber Corporation, which is at 3400 Industrial Way.

King County Fire District 27 of Fall City filled four empty firefighter positions with volunteers.
The volunteers were hired as paid firefighters on Jan. 15. Three of the new firefighters already had experience at King County Fire District 27.
The new members are Dylan Lindberg, Parker Dumas, Noah Fleming and Parker McKinnon.

The scene is disturbingly realistic: Two men lie on the floor with very convincing fake blood pooling around them. Others in the room are screaming in fear. A siren is heard in the distance. Several men and women arrive with stretchers and medical gear to treat the “wounded,” while two men pose as police to attend to the upset onlookers, who shout, “That’s my friend!” and “You’re not working fast enough!”
This is just one of the scenarios that the Black Fire Brigade’s EMT program uses to prepare students for work on the job.
