2 drivers killed in fiery high-speed car crash in Pierce County

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Two drivers are dead after a high-speed crash left both vehicles engulfed in flames on Wednesday. Just after midnight, Pierce County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a two-vehicle collision at Canyon Road East and 160th Street. When authorities arrived at the scene both vehicles were completely covered in flames.

Kennewick firefighters knock down house fire, no injuries reported

A home caught fire in Kennewick on Wednesday, causing neighbors to evacuate. A press release from the Kennewick Fire Department says crews were called to the 2300 block of North Utah Street at 2:10 a.m. The 911 call center received reports that the home was on fire with its occupants possibly still inside.

Chehalis Fire Department receives over $200K from FEMA grant

During its Monday, Aug. 12, meeting, the Chehalis City Council unanimously approved an ordinance accepting Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant program funding awarded to the Chehalis Fire Department. The ordinance is now awaiting approval on its second and final reading at the next Chehalis City Council meeting scheduled for Aug.

Fire on Mt. Jupiter near Brinnon prompts level 1 evacuation notice

An ongoing wildfire on Mt. Jupiter has prompted a Level 1 evacuation notice for residents living on Duckabush Road in Brinnon. Crews from the Brinnon Fire Department and the Department of Natural Resources worked through the night to set up containment lines along the backside of residences in the 2500 block of Duckabush Road.

Pioneer Fire At Nearly 38,500 Acres, Stehekin Still Threatened

The Pioneer Fire on Lake Chelan has grown to almost 38,500 acres and continues to burn dangerously close to buildings in Stehekin. Fire spokesperson Melanie Banton with California Incident Management Team 15 says special measures have been taken to keep the flames from harming those buildings . "The historical buildings, they were all wrapped in fire retardant material," said Banton.
