Hanford Fire Department celebrates new ladder truck with housing ceremony

Hanford firefighters can now take pride in a brand new, state-of-the-art ladder truck. Representatives from the Hanford Fire Department and Department of Energy held a ceremony on Thursday to give the truck a proper “welcome.” “When we request equipment it’s a long process to get it approved,” said Captain Richard Golie.

Sprinkler system limits cigarette fire damage at Liberty Lake apartment complex

The Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to a fire at the Bitterroot Apartments Wednesday night, which was extinguished by a functioning sprinkler system. They received multiple calls of smoke and visible flames on the second floor of the apartments, with one caller speculating that it was a barbecue fire.

PHOTO: Homeless encampment fire causes heavy smoke on I-5 in South Seattle

Firefighters are on the scene of a fire at an encampment under I-5 near Airport Way South and South Snoqualmie Street. The fire is generating a lot of heavy smoke across the interstate, according to WSDOT. Motorists should expect traffic delays in the area. There were no initial reports of injuries.

Assistant Chief of Operations with Snohomish County Fire Dist. 7 celebrates 44 years in the fire service

Assistant Chief of Operations Eric Andrews with the Snohomish County Fire District 7 is retiring after 44 years in the fire service. Andrews will serve his final day on Friday, Jan. 31. “I know many fire department leaders proclaim how great their members are,” Andrews said. “But I can truly say I know of no agency, and I have seen many, that have more passionate fire service members than we have here are Fire District 7.
