Whenever there’s a fire, we expect firefighters as soon as possible. One local fire district says limited resources make that a lot more challenging. However, more money could be on the way for those first responders. It may have happened nearly 30 years ago, but Bonnie Cobb remembers it like it was yesterday.

Crews rescued a worker who became trapped Monday after a retaining wall collapsed on him, burying him up to his waist in rocks and dirt. The incident unfolded at around 10:30 a.m. when crews with Valley Regional Fire Authority received a report of a man who was trapped after a six-foot wall collapsed near Evergreen Way SE and Kersey Way SE in Auburn.

Several months after a swath of suspicious haystack fires in Grant County, Franklin County is now dealing with a possible ‘firebug.’ At around midnight on Feb. 8 and the early morning hours of Feb. 9, Franklin County Sheriff’s officials say there were three suspicious haystack fires in the area of Eltopia West Road and Glade Road just west of the town of Eltopia.
