TV shows are donating supplies to local hospitals, fire departments amid coronavirus pandemic

Fox's "The Resident" is doing its part to protect the residents -- and other health care workers -- at an Atlanta-area hospital amid the spread coronavirus. Dr. Karen L. Law, who is the program director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Emory University, posted a photo to Instagram on Wednesday showing off a donation of masks, gowns and other supplies made by the team behind the medical drama.

Fire department in Washington state shifting operations as it deals with quarantines of firefighters

More than 30 members of the Spokane Fire Department are in self-quarantine in an attempt to stop the spread of sickness amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The firefighters – representing about 10% of the department –were exposed to patients who had symptoms similar to COVID-19. As of Thursday morning, none of them had received a positive test for the novel coronavirus – though one firefighter is in the hospital.

4 Richland Fire EMTs monitored after possible exposure to Coronavirus

A fire crew in Richland has four EMTs being monitored for the coronavirus after assisting with a patient for another medical call. Richland Fire Chief, Tom Huntington said the 4 EMTs have been self quarantined for about 6 days and are showing no signs of coronavirus symptoms. Responders were called to a patient's home originally to assist them with another medical condition, but as they responded the patient showed signs of the coronavirus.

Sequim declares COVID-19 a civil emergency

Sequim leaders have declared a State of Civil Emergency during what could become the last in-person meeting at the Sequim Civic Center for some time. Monday’s Sequim City Council meeting will be online only. City staff last Monday discussed with a room of about 20 people and four video callers that the declaration authorizes Sequim Police and city staff to minimize the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, from spreading in Sequim.
