About five months following an E.coli water contamination in the Hillyard neighborhood, Spokane city leaders are planning to implement new hydrant policies.
In July, people living in the area were advised to drink bottled water after a hydroseed truck hooked up to a fire hydrant, and some of the material backwashed into the hydrant, spreading E.

Two people were displaced by a fire after apparently disrupting efforts to extinguish it Wednesday night at a mobile home in north Clark County.
Clark County Fire & Rescue was dispatched at 6:04 p.m. to 7909 N.E. 289th St. Arriving crews found smoke coming from the roof of the single-story house, Clark County Fire & Rescue Chief John Nohr said.

A 27-year-old man died after a fire broke out at his home and fire officials said he tried to put it out himself.
According to a press release from the Spokane Fire Department, firefighters responded to the duplex on North Lee Street near East Francis around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters were called to the scene to investigate a report of a death after a family member went to check on their relative.

The city of Quincy amended the interlocal agreement with Grant County Fire District No. 3 at Tuesday’s council meeting. The amendment was to allow for personnel to provide fire and emergency medical protection services at the city’s public safety building and the fire station in George.
“About a year ago, we completed the public safety building and that is staffed by the fire district,” said Pat Haley, city administrator.
